Application for designation as a Federal Foreign Trade Zone. The Commission may, if appropriate, make application to the Secretary of Commerce of the united States, or, as necessary, any other federal agency, for the purposes of establishing, operating and maintaining foreign trade zones at Devens; pursuant to the Foreign Trade Zone Act, 19 U.S.C. subsection 8la et seq., as amended, or any existing or successor statute of similar import, in order to expedite and encourage foreign commerce and trade opportunities in the Commonwealth and for other purposes.
